J...S
I was trying to make this layout using `subfigure`-s from `subcaption` package.
This is what I wanted.
```
+-----------+
| |
| | +-----------+
| A | | |
| | | |
| | | |
+-----------+ | |
(a) | C |
| |
+-----------+ | |
| | | |
| B | | |
| | +-----------+
+-----------+ (c)
(b)
Main caption
```
How can this be achieved?
I have currently adapted a snippet that I had found online and made it like this:
```
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{subcaption}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\begin{document}
\begin{figure}
{
\centering\begin{subfigure}[b]{0.5\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=.5\linewidth]{example-image-a}
\caption{\label{figA}Fig A}
\end{subfigure}%\hfill
\begin{subfigure}[b]{0.5\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=.69\linewidth]{example-image-b}
\caption{\label{figB}Fig B}
\end{subfigure}\vspace{10pt}
}\hfill%
\begin{subfigure}[b]{\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=5cm]{example-image-c}
\caption{\label{figC} Fig C}
\end{subfigure}
\caption{Main caption}
\end{figure}
\end{document}
```
But that's showing up as:
![subfig.png](/image?hash=51f3788ea749e3f59536815492337a5f3fa3d569d1341670db154093fcacb5d4)
In my actual use case, I have got tables instead of images though.
Does it make a difference for the example?

I'd use a minipage:
```
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{subcaption}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\begin{document}
\begin{figure}[htbp]
\begin{minipage}{.45\textwidth}
\begin{subfigure}{\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=\linewidth]{example-image-a}
\caption{\label{figA}Fig A}
\end{subfigure}
\begin{subfigure}{\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=\linewidth]{example-image-16x9}
\caption{\label{figB}Fig B}
\end{subfigure}
\end{minipage}
\hfill
\begin{subfigure}[c]{.45\linewidth}
\centering\includegraphics[width=\linewidth]{example-image-9x16}
\caption{\label{figC} Fig C}
\end{subfigure}
\caption{Main caption}
\end{figure}
\end{document}
```
