Is there any consensus on which questions we import? Do we only import questions we provided answers to (or we asked). Do we import outstanding questions which are neither? Do we just import questions based on our own gusto?

I think we should import only the useful posts (outstanding or frequently asked) when needed. No massive import at all.
Which questions do we import?

Agree

(though of course it is friendlier to use it under the other license, as that's the license the author chose based on his free will, not because the powers made him.)

Thank for the info!

For importing a question with all the answers, the syntax is `questionID *` or to import a questions with some answers `questionID answerID`

Ah, OK

no, because this relicensing just adds another license under which the material might be used in addition to the existing CC BY-SA 4.0 of SE. The moment you post stuff on SE you agree that the stuff can be used under that licence. The user then can choose which licence he wants to use the material under.

There are also some copyright problems, for the users who chose a licence type different from CC BY-SA 4.0 https://tex.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/1255/relicensing-code-from-answers

I disagree to import all the TikZ stuff. Even if @marmot answer are great, most of the questions are just-do.it-for-me
CarLaTeX replying to marmot
I agree. Also because I tried to import "https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/11/what-are-good-learning-resources-for-a-latex-beginner" but only the question was imported

Hmmh, why would we want to copy existing material? Very soon we will be overwhelmed by the stuff, have deprecated techniques and mutually contradictory answers. I thought we want to be better than that. I personally wouldn't want to import anything. However, it is clear that each of us knows the "literature" well enough to recycle our old posts wherever this is appropriate.

sounds good to me.

Sorry! I'll default to "what do conglomerations of atoms think about..." in the future to be on the safe side :)

rabbits are etc :(

Discussion proposal: what do people (and ducks, marmots, falcons etc) think about importing whole tags in which we are interested in (for example I would beamer, marmot might be interested in tikz etc.)? One purpose of importing posts could be to give the site some starting stock of Q&As that people looking for an answer might find via search engines. This might get us some new users here that ask questions about topics we like to answer (of course one would need to check with the devs if this causes problems for hosting etc, this would be in the ballpark of 30k questions)

I suggest to also include Q&As we are going to mention when writing answers. For example "This can be solved using a similar approach as in zzz", then let's also import the Q&A of zzz
