For some reason I can star some questions but not others.

It's not only questions I have posted an answer to myself because I can not vote on [this one](https://topanswers.xyz/meta?q=26).

It's also not only votes on meta because I can't vote on [this one](https://topanswers.xyz/databases?q=15) either.

However I can star [this question](https://topanswers.xyz/databases?q=69)

What's the logic behind this?

Originally you could only vote on questions of type 'meta question', or 'blog post'. This meant that normal questions on the 'meta' community could not be voted on.

To keep things simple, we have disabled 'meta questions' in the 'meta' community, and allowed voting on all normal questions instead (again, just in the 'meta' community). ***So now you can vote on everything 'meta'*** (except your own posts of course). This is a feature — the use of meta helps build the site and keep things organised, so we want to encourage it.
What's the logic for being able to vote on a question

Not that we need to copy everything but it would serve a similar purpose

Yes Meta questions in databases and only questions in meta seems sensible to me. Not very different from meta.stackexchange.com = meta and meta question in databases = meta.dba.stackexchange.com

it might be just because I'm used to it, but to me it seems weird to see meta questions in the same list as the normal ones
Jack Douglas replying to Lamak
isn't it helpful to be able to ask "What default font should we use on TopAnswers/databases" somewhere that is just for the 'databases' community? I'm thinking ahead to a possible future when we have more than one community of course…
Lamak replying to Jack Douglas
yes, it does...and I would even think about posting the question in meta when choosing "meta question" in main

I propose we disable 'meta questions' in the 'meta' community, and allow voting on all normal questions instead (again, just in the 'meta' community). Does that sound sensible?
Jack Douglas replying to Lamak
yes, it's 'consistent', but weird, and probably wrong
Lamak
hmmm...those options are also available when writing a question in meta, so I guess you should mark your question as a "meta question" even when asking in meta for it to be able to vote on
Lamak
so I think that you can vote on questions that are "meta questions" in the main site, but not on questions on meta, which is weird
Lamak
Sooo, I tried the link to ask a question in TopAnswers (not in meta), and the options to categorize your question are: question, meta question, and blog post
Lamak
> that's how things stand on normal question, but voting is currently allowed on meta questions or blog posts.
> question voting can be added, but with every feature I think we should ask the question:

"will this really help build a knowledge library or is it just what we are used to on SE"

So, sometime ago I asked something similar in a comment in meta, and @Jack said:
