I would welcome some additional option to recover the account. As far as I see this is now easier for users with a linked SE account and for users receiving email notification their address may already be a viable way to confirm their identity. I really appreciate that it is possible to have an identifiable account without providing similar information, but an opt-in option to recover the account via email seems helpful even for users that don’t want to receive notifications. Having two different addresses   seems overcomplicated and confusing, so including this option in the existing email notification feature seems the easiest way to go about it, specially if some additional options are already planned.
