@Flithor wow, I didn’t know LiveCharts2 is coming. I thought the project is dead. Thank you for the answer

I’m going to raise the idea of mixed-case tags on Meta but I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen

Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Monday, 20th Jul 2020 14:31

I’ve set that up but I’ve done it inside fsharp.ta rather than here 😃

7 hours
FoggyFinder — Monday, 20th Jul 2020 08:00

and yep 😃

FoggyFinder replying to Jack Douglas — Monday, 20th Jul 2020 07:59

yep

Jack Douglas — Monday, 20th Jul 2020 07:57

also there is probably no good reason why we shouldn’t allow mixed case for tags, would you be in favour of that?

Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Monday, 20th Jul 2020 07:57

should funcui imply avalonia? I’ll assume the answer is ‘yes’!

Can Avalonia.FuncUI (or just FuncUI) tag be added?

if I have a “connection pool full” error with .net core 2.1 and ef core does that fix itself over time automatically?

Can someone who has rights add some core tags? Like fsharp, avalonia, xamarin, winforms, linq etc)

yep, I really enjoy writing UI with xaml

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 22:15

as you say “to my surprise”

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 22:15

I guess you are OK with it though?

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 22:14

I know it has it’s uses but it is such a pain

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 22:14

it’s hard to be a fan of XML in any of it’s forms

FoggyFinder — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:58

Avalonia.FuncUI looks promising

FoggyFinder — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:57

Also, to my surprise, many people dislike XAML and DSL is a F# field

FoggyFinder — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:54

I hope Avalonia will change it a bit cause it’s not totally C#-focused

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:50

it’s a shame good things don’t always rise to the top!

Even something simple as templates for a new item in VS:

Sadly F# is unvalued. And I can understand that. No sense to choose language with worst support (tools, IDE, libraries, …) when there is C# that serves well

12 minutes
Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:28

it’s relatively tiny on SO compared to C# though

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:28

one day it would be great to have an F# community here

Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 18:27

F# looks really interesting — I love the cleanness, and it reminds me a little be of APL even though the syntax is worlds apart

40 minutes
FoggyFinder replying to Jack Douglas — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 17:48

yep, that’s right. I try to use F# as much as possible

7 hours
Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 11:16

F# is your language of choice? is that what your personal project is written in?

Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Sunday, 3rd May 2020 11:16

tbh we are making the rules up as we go along 😉

Anyway, app was built successfully but, unfortunately, an exception was thrown on one page. System.Runtime.InteropServices.MissingInteropDataException.

Since I used only few classes from NAudio I decided that it is easier to find another library than spend time to localization and fixing bug (if it is possible at all) in NAudio.

One of possible options was ManagedBass. Well, tbh, I haven’t tried the rest of my list cause this library fits fine.

Startup time is significantly faster and there are no any exceptions so far.

FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 22:03

I was looking for alternative to NAudio.

Some context: I finally have time to return to my personal project and I wanted to give a chance to CoreRt. Last time there was a matter with Rx.Net (that comes to a project as a dependency to Avalonia) but since it was fixed I haven’t seen any additional issues.

FoggyFinder replying to Jack Douglas — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 21:58

😃 I’m worrying about my English mostly. Qs creating is quite a challenge to me still especially when it’s not related to programming directly.

Yeah, I know. Moreover I prefer chats over Q&A but since I’m new here decided to clarify rules first.

Well, really, maybe there is a better option than one that I found. So I’ll write it down

2 hours
Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 19:51

you seem to know how to ask questions properly 😉 glad you found what you were looking for — you can always ask anything in chat of course (whether you’ll get an answer is another matter)

an hour
FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 18:58

Right. I’ll try to create one. Not today though. Btw, I found an answer to my unspoken question about libraries. Therefore I can wait and, who knows, maybe someone with ability to write Qs properly do it instead of me

8 hours
Jack Douglas replying to FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 11:27

a meta question would be great as that would have higher visibility, both now and in the future

an hour
FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 10:21

or maybe it would be better to create a meta-question for this? unsure

FoggyFinder — Saturday, 2nd May 2020 09:21

Is it OK to ask “Find library” kind of questions ?

Enter question or answer id or url (and optionally further answer ids/urls from the same question) from

Separate each id/url with a space. No need to list your own answers; they will be imported automatically.
