I had a note to let both of you know when we got round to creating this community, but you are too sharp-eyed for that to be necessary :)

Ooh! Where are my :sunglasses:! I wonder if that yellow can be desaturated a tick?
2020-05-30 20:06:43  Jack Douglas  replying to  David
I think we should see what it looks like with some questions filling up the space — it's a big area of yellow at the moment :)

True, very true!

The ["tones" chart on this site](https://www.colorhexa.com/fff5d6) (towards the bottom of the page) is useful for that sort of thing — again, you've probably got your own favourite tools for this. TA is certainly growing!

you are an amazing mine of resources!

I want to double-check whether a question is appropriate to post here. Is there a meta post somewhere about that?
2020-05-31 20:35:51  Jack Douglas  replying to  Pax
no it's just 'ask in chat' at the moment :)
2020-05-31 20:36:12  Jack Douglas
I mean we will probably need a meta post here about scope at some point
2020-05-31 20:36:33  Jack Douglas
although I imagine it will be relatively straightforward for python?
2020-05-31 20:38:21  Pax
Ok. I will ask a question and people can just put in chat if it is not appropriate.

@Jack Tags for my question: jinja ?

first time here. I have no idea how this works... This is a test. Do I need a profile?
2020-06-03 09:49:00  anoldmaninthesea
I think I've changed my user name...

Is this kind of question in-scope: when X python package is more appropriate to use over Y python package? Specifically, [this]( https://github.com/ktosiek/pytest-vcr/issues/7) -- Both packages have the same decorator API ([vcrpy](https://vcrpy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/usage.html#record-modes) vs [pytest-vcr](https://pypi.org/project/pytest-vcr/))

for participant in chat.get_users():
    print("Hello, %s!"%(participant))

Hmm.. an "if you're new.." section might be useful ;-)
2020-06-20 19:56:02  Jack Douglas  replying to  thebjorn
you mean just here in python.ta or generally?
2020-06-20 19:57:47  Jack Douglas
some communities (notably tex.ta and godegolf.ta do have 'about' pages that are easy to find
2020-06-20 19:58:07  Jack Douglas
eventually we'll get that everywhere…

Thanks for this, Pax. Would it be suitable, do you think, for someone who has just dabbled in PHP? I would like (in my amateur way) to learn some Python, though, and this might be a good way in. Thoughts?
2020-07-01 16:03:42  Pax
I actually haven't gone through the course myself but it sounds like if you know common programming concepts, you'd be able to follow the course.
