Thanks and I will pass on your greetings! And have fun, too, at the bachelor party!
Have fun, and greetings to the people I know there :P Sadly I can't attend, there's a bachelor's party scheduled for this weekend.
Famous indeed! The meeting will take place in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goethe-Nationalmuseum
I'm very sorry! Next time I'll sent you one of his Objectivity videos instead - this will be a totally different spiral to vanish in :)
you sent me (once again) spiralling off into the deeps of numberphile YT videos! Thanks :)
As I said, I used much of manual positioning and adaptations, there is data doubled, because I didn't create variables storing it, etc. It's a small mess :) But feel free to do whatever you want with it.
Not sure whether that's easily possible, but you can give it a try. Beware the beerware license :P
> it’s not that polished, the code doesn’t automate anything, and it’s full of manual formatting Haven't checked the code yet, but since it's yours, I am pretty sure it won't fail to impress me. Would you mind if someone (i.e., me xD) fills these gaps and create a user-friendly template based on yours? I am too done with `moderncv`.
(The code was too long, I had to separate this into multiple messages, so first is the preamble, second the document)

The first abstract is very interesting for you, because I wrote it in this interesting letter to you. The second paragraph is pretty cool and explains why I'm perfect for my job. Maybe we got even more paragraphs telling you about my extraordinary interest towards the subject, how that came into existence, and why I have such a vast knowledge of the field. Keep in mind that all this is dummy text, you should write your own cover letter. Most likely you can find some key points somewhere on how you should structure your cover letter, what you should absolutely avoid, and what is good practice. %\enlargethispage{3cm}% Maybe we need this to make things fit the first page \closing {% \rlap{\hskip3mm\smash{\raisebox{-1.5\baselineskip}{\signature}}}% Best regards } \end{letter} \startcv \leavevmode \llap{\smash{\talign{\begin{tabular}{@{}>{\raggedright\arraybackslash}p{\imgcol}@{}} \includegraphics[width=\imgcol]{example-image-duck-portrait}\\ TeX 123\\ 456 TopAnswers\\ \symmobile 0123\,45\,67\,890\\ \href{mailto:mail@example.com}{\symemail mail@example.com}\\ \end{tabular}}}\hskip\imgsep} \sbox\databox {% % place additional contents that should show up to the right of the CV % heading here \begin{tabular}{@{}r@{}} \end{tabular}% } \talign{\parbox{\dimexpr\linewidth-2cm-\scol-\wd\databox-\dsep\relax} {% \begingroup \LARGE Curriculum Vitae\par \endgroup \medskip \begingroup \LARGE\bfseries Skillmon\par \endgroup \medskip \begingroup \Large Master of Ducks\par \endgroup }} \hskip\dsep \talign{\usebox\databox} \par \bigskip \section{Personal Data} \cvitem{Day of Birth}{01.01.1975} \cvitem{Place of Birth}{At home} \cvitem{Nationality}{Killer Rabbit} \cvitem{Family Status}{married, 2 children} \section{Professional Career} \cventry{since 04.2014}{Great \TeX-guy of the ducks' association} {Ducks' Association}{University of the Pond}{}{} \cventry{09.2012--03.2012}{\TeX-guy of the ducks' association} {Ducks' Association}{University of the Pond}{}{} \cventry{10.2011--02.2012}{Internship} {Ducks' Association}{University of the Pond}{}{} \cventry{05.--07.2011}{Internship} {Great Business}{Big Corporation Ltd}{London}{United Kingdom} \section{School Education and Studies} \cventry{2010--2012}{Master of Ducks} {Applied Roasting Resistance}{University of the Lake}{Final Grade~1.4}{} \cventry{2007--2010}{Bachelor of Ducks} {Universal Cooking Resistance Science}{Pool's University}{Final Grade~2.1}{} \cventry{1998--2007}{General Matriculation Standard} {School of the Fluffy Ducks}{Small Puddle}{Final Grade~1.5}{} \section{IT Competences} \cvitem{Software}{ good knowledge in C, git, Python, Shell;\\ expert knowledge in \TeX} \cvitem{OS}{Linux, Windows} \section{Language Skills} \cvitem{Rabbity}{Mother Tongue} \cvitem{Ducky}{fluently spoken and written} \vfill \leavevmode\hfill \begingroup %\small Pond, \today \hskip\scol \begin{tabular}[t]{l} \hline \makebox[3cm]{Skillmon} \end{tabular} \llap{\raisebox{3mm}{\signature}\hskip5mm} \endgroup \end{document} ```

Wow, took me a while, but I was faster than a month :D Here is my CV including cover letter. Keep in mind that I wrote this very adhoc, it's not that polished, the code doesn't automate anything, and it's full of manual formatting (but since it was supposed a one-off thing that's fine). I'd suggest you don't use this as a template, more as a source of inspiration to build a CV from scratch instead of using a package (unless you find a package that perfectly fits your needs).
``` \documentclass{beamer} \begin{document} \begin{frame} \begin{itemize} \item Some text \end{itemize} \begin{center} \begin{tabular}{ cc } % top level tables, with 2 columns A & B \\ % leftmost table of the top level table \begin{tabular}{ |c|c| } \hline 3 & 15 \\ \hline 7 & 17 \\ \hline 8 & 22 \\ \hline 11 & 23 \\ \hline \end{tabular} & % starting rightmost sub table $\bigcup$ \hspace{0.1cm} % table 2 \begin{tabular}{ |c|c|c| } \hline 2 & 9 \\ \hline 3 & 11 \\ \hline 6 & 17 \\ \hline 7 & 23 \\ \hline \end{tabular} \hspace{0.05cm} = \uncover<2->{ \begin{tabular}{ |c|c|c| } \hline 2 & 8 \\ \hline 3 & 9 \\ \hline 6 & 11 \\ \hline 7 & 15 \\ \hline \end{tabular} } \end{tabular} \end{center} \end{frame} \end{document} ```
The texlive versions packaged in linux rarely are current. I would always use the vanilla texlive from https://tug.org/texlive/ . This way you can control if/when you update.
The easiest way to install an up-to-date version is to use a current tex distribution and let the tex distribution handle package updates.
